Newly diagnosed cancer patients, those living with the disease, and their caregivers can talk live with a reassuring person who can answer questions and provide support.
Calls to DC Cancer Answers are personally answered by specially trained cancer information specialists, fluent in English and Spanish. DC Cancer Answers specialists can provide information about:
• Clinical trials
• Insurance help
• Screenings for leading cancers in DC, including breast, prostate, cervical, and colorectal cancers
• Support groups
• Transportation to and from cancer-related appointments
DC Cancer Answers specialists can also connect callers to the Citywide Patient Navigator Network, funded by the DC Cancer Consortium and coordinated by The George Washington Cancer Institute.
The Patient Navigator Network can help patients get the right care, at the right place, and at the right time.
DC Cancer Answers was created by the DC Cancer Consortium, in partnership with the American Cancer Society and The George Washington Cancer Institute, expressly for residents of the District of Columbia. Support is also provided by more than two dozen hospitals, cancer centers, and community health organizations, all working together to increase access to cancer care in DC.
